Cal State San Marcos is a regional university with a focus on undergraduate education. The CSUSM Library collects books, journals, and a wide variety of other material to support the curriculum of the University.

Special Collections


Barahona Center

Located on the Fifth Floor of the Library (Map), the Barahona Center for the Study of Books in Spanish for Children and Adolescents is the only collection of its kind in the world. The Center collects all books in Spanish for children and teens published worldwide since 1989, and all books in English about Hispanic / Latino cultures for children and teens published in the US since 1989. Researchers may not check-out books from the Center, but can access the collection (Search) during the Library's open hours.

Hansen Curriculum Room

Located on the Fifth Floor of the Library (Map), the Curriculum Room is a collection of K-12 curriculum resources that are used mainly by students preparing to be teachers in the Cal State San Marcos College of Education. All of the materials in the room have been purchased through an endowment fund received by the College of Education.
