Background information
Book materials provide in-depth overviews of issues and virtually always have bibliographies, endnotes, or footnotes that direct you to other information; including scholarly articles.

  • When you find a good source, click on its Subjects for other items on that topic.

  • Go to the book shelves and browse the call number area for more materials.

 

 
  • Enter the key term for your concept.
     
  • Too many? Add another term to describe the particular issue: teenage pregnancy--united states
  • Too few? Search Submit search to SDCircuit
  • If we don't have an item you can request it through Submit search to SDCircuit.

Research studies most often take the form of journal articles and investigate a very
specific aspect of a particular issue.

Once you have a good overview of your research topic, find and read journal articles to develop a deeper understanding of what is known and not known on your topic.
