Each assignment is worth credit. No late work will be accepted past the due date without prior approval.

 

Homework assignment #1

  • Complete the online tutorial module on "5 Research Strategies" (from the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries, as demonstrated in class), approx. 10 minutes long.
     
  • To complete this assignment, you will need to enter your FULL name on the first screen, answer 5 quiz questions during the module, and print your results page (sample below-- click File, then Print)
     
  • Do the best you can. You can "rewind" parts of the tutorial and take the quiz questions at your own pace. You will be given credit for printing and submitting the quiz results to me, NOT on the actual score you received.

Critical Reviews
NOTE: These are due throughout the library module-- please view schedule for assignments and due dates.

  • Write critical reviews for 4 sources related to your group topic.

    These 4 sources must include the following:

    ¨      1 website

    ¨      1 popular source (a newspaper or magazine article)

    ¨      1 scholarly source (an article or a chapter in a book, based on research)

    ¨     1 media source (a DVD, VHS, CD, image, etc for your presentation)
     

  • Each critical review must be proofread, written in complete sentences,
    typed, printed out and submitted on time.
     
  • Each group member must submit different sources for the group topic.
