Top 5 things you'll need as a new student

Welcome to Cal State San Marcos!

We've got the latest technology and a state-of-the-art library on campus. But before you can fully use these resources, you'll need a couple of things first.

1 Get a campus ID card

You won't get far without it. Bring five bucks to the Media Library.

2 Activate your campus username

All registered CSUSM students receive a campus username and password. Once you activate that account you can:

To obtain your campus username, password, and e-mail address, please bring a valid picture ID and your campus ID number to the 2nd floor computer lab in Kellogg Library.

3 Get a library barcode

A barcode allows you to borrow books, movies, and other material from our Library, as well as order online and pick-up at our Library books from any participating San Diego academic library using the Circuit, which includes over 3 million titles.

You can get a barcode at the 3rd Floor Library Check Out Desk or the Media Library.

4 Check your Reserves

Many professors place books, articles, and videos on reserve for your courses -- some of which are available online using a password your professor gives you in class. Check all of the current library reserves.
