Common Read Spring Events

The Library is excited to announce our Common Read event line up for spring 2024! Pick up a free book at one of our book giveaways, participate in a book discussion, or attend an author talk.  

The five books selected by the University Library and Common Read Committee for the 2023-24 academic year include:

"All Boys Aren't Blue: A Memoir Manifesto" by George M. Johnson
"The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood
"Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood" by Marjane Satrapi
"Separate is Never Equal" by Duncan Tonatiuh
"We Are the Land: A History of Native California" by Damon B. Akins & William J. Bauer

An Evening with George M. Johnson, author of All Boys Aren’t Blue

Bilingual Storytime & Craft: Separate is Never Equal
Wednesday, April 10, 5:30-7:00pm, Kellogg Library Reading Room. Join us for a reading of Separate is Never Equal and a hands-on craft. Free copies of the book will be available for pick up and refreshments will be provided. All ages welcome, including kids!

CCC Banned Books Discussion & Book Giveaway
Tuesday, April 23, U-Hour, 12:00-12:50pm, Cross Cultural Center. Join us for a discussion about banned books and censorship, and get ready for you summer reading with a free copy of a Common Read book. Snacks provided!
