Misplaced

My eyes want to look beyond this mask that hides me.
Who am I? you ask
I can't let you see for everyone will judge me. Because people can't see who is beneath
this skin. Layer and layer from all the pain and hurt overtime.
I live under feeling there no way out.
Because this is not who I am.
I see my body just as you do, but who am I; I ask you.
Oddly you see someone has captured me and put me inside this body with this face that
don't match my eyes.
If you could see my soul only, would you know me? NO
Because people only see me from the outside.
They're not in here with me. My heart asks to break out. But this skin keeps me in, these
people don't understand that I just feel like a meh. Who am I

So I'll hide behind these eyes looking out from behind this mask and let you think you
know me.

But my beauty is more than skin deep if you look deep into my eyes and ask who are
you?
I might just ask you in.
Because these eyes are the window to my soul, and this mask can't hide that!
