People look back to where they come from,
memorializing their past-
in writing, in art, in photographs.
Archiving their history
to preserve their existence.
To figure out who they were,
To figure out who they are.
To figure out who they are becoming.
To connect,
To reconnect
and then, to let go.
The figuring out through the holding on
to something created or tangible
as natural to humanity
to qualify truth,
to validate foundational principles
America’s Constitution upholds.
As early as hieroglyphics
and mans’ drawing on underdeveloped rock, imprinting their narrative
and enshrining early story.
Memorializing first mans’ past-
where, afterwards,
people constantly look back to.
Finding the past can only be found in writing,
in art,
in photographs.
