Released from the Shadows

Stepping out of my shadows
No longer allowing for your compartmentalization

Many never wanted me to Breathe
to be seen, to ever be heard.

                     But.....................

                                RESILIENCE

I find daily as my feet touch the ground
Though you'd rather keep me hidden underground.

Names called from childhood
Labels given by society
Laid out to mortify me
To keep me in obscurity

Staying stuck in the trenches or mire
No longer an option for me

Gaining newfound strength day by day
            As my feet touch this ground
