The CSUSM Library is pleased to announce that, as of summer 2026, we have rejoined the San Diego Circuit resource sharing network. The Circuit includes UC San Diego, the University of San Diego, San Diego State University, the San Diego Public Library, and the San Diego County Library.

CSUSM previously exited the Circuit in 2019. The consortium has since transitioned its requesting system to Clarivate’s Rapido Consortial Borrowing platform, which integrates seamlessly with our existing library systems and makes our return possible.

The Cougars Affordable Learning Materials Program (CALM) is part of the CSU Affordable Learning Solutions initiative started in 2010. CALM aims to aid faculty in replacing costly textbooks with lower cost alternatives by using high-quality, open education.

Let’s set the scene: It’s the spring semester. Heat waves ripple throughout campus, and you have a gap between classes with nowhere to sit in the shade. You find a spot under a tree, but don’t want to sit directly on the ground. Defeated, you walk away.  

For the upcoming holiday closures. Resource sharing/CSU+ requests received after December 19th will not be processed until early January.

Are you teaching a class that doesn't require students to purchase any textbooks or course materials? 

If so, please report your Zero Cost Course Materials (ZCCM) courses to the CALM Team. You can submit your courses by emailing calm@csusm.edu or using the ZCCM Reporting Form. 

What is considered ZCCM? 

The Reading Room is located in KEL 5400 and provides a quiet study space for all students during library hours. This space can also be used as a venue to host events.

The CSUSM University Library has received the 2025 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity (LEAD) Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine. The Award honors academic libraries’ programs and initiatives that support inclusive excellence and belonging on their campus. The CSUSM Library was honored for the second year in a row and will be featured, along with 33 other recipients, in the March 2025 issue of Insight Into Diversity magazine.
